HR Director

SUMMARY:

The HR Director oversees all aspects of the people-related (HR) operations throughout the organization including all aspects of employee relations, talent acquisition, employee data management, benefits selection and administration, employment-related compliance programming, employment-related training, and other traditional HR disciplines.  While maintaining responsibility for all HR functions throughout the organization, this position supervises the HR managers, providing development and performance management as needed to ensure the HR department maintains a strong internal reputation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee all aspects of HR operations including employee relations, employee training (pertaining to employment functions), talent acquisition, HRIS performance and functionality, benefits administration, legal compliance related to employment practices, and other traditional HR functions
  2. Advise senior leadership on HR performance, risks, needs, and capabilities, ensuring that these stakeholders are informed ahead of any foreseeable occurrences or initiatives
  3. Work with in-house counsel to develop and implement legal compliance initiatives related to employment programs and practices
  4. Oversee the organization’s relationship with all outside vendors and regulatory agencies related to employment practices including benefits brokers, HRIS and other SaaS providers, regulatory agencies, and staffing vendors
  5. Provide day-to-day direction and leadership for the HR managers and, indirectly, for the subordinate HR team, overseeing staff meetings, disseminating information to the HR team as needed, and ensuring HR initiatives are completed timely and better than project goals
  6. Develop and performance manager the HR team as needed, ensuring that team members are able to appropriately perform their roles and are able to serve as a trusted adviser/consultant to the organization’s leadership
  7. Administer the HR department budget including managing expenses related to department payroll/staffing and usage of third-party staffing contractors
  8. Maintain visibility to all sensitive HR issues, including talent acquisition concerns and employee relations risks, providing direction to staff as needed to ensure the timely and appropriate resolution of the issues
  9. Serve as the spokesperson to the organization for HR initiatives, projects, performance, and other related communications
  10. Maintain ultimate accountability for HR department performance to organizational goals
  11. Maintain expert-level awareness of the organization’s employment-related policies and practices, including those related to industrial safety
  12. Regularly attend work, in-person, potentially traveling to multiple facilities within a single shift
  13. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Extensive knowledge of full life cycle recruiting and experience with candidate generation
  • Extensive knowledge of employee relations practices including best practices and strategies regarding employment investigations, discipline, leadership, separations, and other employee relations processes
  • Experience navigating and influencing in a heavily matrixed organization required
  • Management of people experience (direct supervision) of employees required
  • Personable, high energy individual that is passionate about recruitment and enjoys working in a fast paced, innovative, dynamic organization
  • Superior relationship building and influencing skills of upper management
  • Proven success in leading change to a team across a federated talent acquisition model
  • Highly effective at getting to root cause and providing innovative solutions
  • Strong analytics, budget management and business acumen required
  • Working knowledge of employment laws applicable within the State of Arizona, including the development and implementation of Affirmative Action plans
  • Ability to learn quickly and leverage flexible midst in response to shifting dynamics, adversity and/or change.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to multiple facilities throughout the Phoenix Metro area

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Human Resources Management, or a similar program
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years experience in HR with increasing responsibility, including responsibilities for HR team performance
  • 5+ years leadership experience in HR, preferably in employee relations, talent acquisition, or benefits administration
  • Working knowledge of employment law and best practices related to talent acquisition
