Global Payroll Manager

The Manager, Global Payroll will own payroll for the company, including accurate and efficient payroll Global operations. This position will partner closely with HR, Accounting, and external partners driving to implement strategies to ensure efficiencies and scalability of processes and drive exceptional employee experience. The Manager, Global Payroll manages the team, function, processes and payroll initiatives for the Global Payroll operations. Responsible for ensuring payroll services are delivered accurately, timely and compliant with Company policies and Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements for all company locations including domestic and international payrolls. The Manager, Global Payroll will bring leadership, payroll expertise, and global payroll experience. Position Accountabilities
 
The following are essential accountabilities:
  • Oversee and be accountable for the on-time and accurate completion of all US and Global on-cycle, off[1]cycle, and bonus payroll.
  • Establish expertise in and use the established workflows, automation, tools, and technologies supporting payroll processing and service support as well as monthly, quarterly, and year end / year begin activities.
  • Supports all audits with relation to payroll including internal, external, 401K, workers compensation, international, etc. Develops procedures, tests and audits with regards to integration with benefits, HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of Federal, State, Local and Global Country regulatory changes and provides oversight to payroll activities and processing integrity to ensure compliance with all applicable government and regulatory laws, regulations and requirements, and legal or contractual obligations.
  • Maintain a system for multi-jurisdictional payrolls and tax reporting processes, oversees, recommends, and implements the setup of new states and municipalities from a payroll standpoint with the growth of the company organically.
  • Ensure systems and controls are set up accurately within systems to ensure compliance with local, state, federal and company guidelines and requirements.
  • Manage annual preparation and delivery of annual tax returns to team members globally.
  • Research, analyze and resolve problems or questions presented by employees or managers utilizing knowledge of accepted payroll practices, company policy and the payroll system functionality.
  • Responsible for oversight of payroll records retention and file maintenance and process improvements as needed.
  • Partners with the HR and Finance teams on benefits (related to payroll) and tax procedures to ensure we are delivering a cohesive service delivery.
  • Primary contact for payroll and tax vendors.
  • Lead payroll development and implementation process for new countries or entities.
  • SME for International Payroll Tax and Administration and helps with various benefit implementation and Global audits as needed.
  • Mentor, train, and coach existing and new team members.
  • Proactively identify, drive, and scale improvements in payroll systems, policies, and processes.
  • Provides expert advice and execution to achieve business goals related to payroll.
  • Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to increase quality, improve employee experience, and enable rapid scaling.
  • Develop and/or improve payroll processes to enable a cohesive Worldwide team.
  • Provides oversight for Payroll team members, including garnishments, tax and disbursements as well as application management for payroll, time, absence and financial related interfaces.
  • Partner closely with internal partners (Global Talent, Finance, IT) to deliver an outstanding onboarding and pay experience for our team members.
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports as needed by management and accounting/finance.
  • Defines requirements and configuration options for payroll, time reporting, absence management and interfaces to multiple financial systems (general ledger, expense, Hyperion, 401k, etc.). Provides guidance on other HCM configuration as it relates to payroll business processes.
  • Develop, evolve, document, and own the new Payroll team member on-boarding experience.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or similar field and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 7 + years of payroll experience including day-to-day payroll, exception handling, HRIS and administration for payroll systems and reports and year end / year begin activities. At least two (2) years in a people management role. Global company payroll experience required.
  • Preferred Experience: 10+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state and international environment. Diverse HR experience (payroll, operations, benefits, immigration, etc.) preferred.
  • Preferred Certification/ License: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information. Demonstrable US and International payroll subject matter expertise. Proficiency in HRIS Systems.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Knowledge of international payroll vendor(s) software/processes. Strong business acumen and analytical skills to identify potential impact and implications of new regulations or issues.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills and intermediate Microsoft Office applications.
