Compensation Analyst

Assesses and performs analysis on collected wage data and prepares wage and salary data to facilitate compensation and management functions of organization. Partners with management to determine type, scope, and purpose of analyses. Examines and evaluates executive and non-executive positions. Responsibilities are of a professional level and require understanding of both compensation theory and practice.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Researches employee compensation in similar industries; based on findings, recommends changes or updates to the company’s existing compensation structure or policies.
  • Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations impacting compensation.
  • Assists Director of Executive Compensation with bonus and long-term incentive reporting for the Board of Directors and non-employee director compensation planning.
  • Engages in continuous improvement activities, including but not limited to digitization and automation of compensation administration. (i.g. digitizing physical files, organizing data, and storing it in a secure and consolidated location).
  • Review and make recommendations on pay equity and pay trends across all divisions.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field required.
