Payroll Manager

SUMMARY
The payroll manager is responsible for administering all payroll processing operations and processes to ensure timely and accurate calculation and payment of wages, tax withholdings and deductions ensuring compliance with all relevant government and company requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages the weekly multi-state payroll process
  • Maintains the payroll interface between Kronos and Sage/Timberline
  • Audits weekly payroll for accuracy and compliance
  • Researches and resolves any discrepancies in payroll information or account balances
  • Reviews garnishments, liens, levies and child support entries
  • Creates and remits check processing, garnishment and tax reporting files to ADP
  • Researches uncashed checks
  • Responsible for prevailing wage calculations and reporting
  • Works closely with HR and Benefits Administrator to ensure the accuracy of deductions
  • Preparing and submitting weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, year-end audit, W-2 preparation and 401(k) audit
  • Responsible for managing payroll department staff of three professionals
  • Responds in a timely manner to all inquiries on payroll issues
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Manages integration of payroll systems from acquired companies
  • Works on various special payroll projects and other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working with complex payroll systems
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Expert knowledge of payroll practices and processes including prevailing wage administration
  • Experience working with Kronos Workforce, Sage 300/Timberline and ADP
  • Demonstrated super-user skills in MS Office Suite particularly Excel
  • Business focused mindset with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to respond effectively to employee concerns
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail oriented with ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Construction or Commercial Roofing industry experience is an asset
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is an asset
