Assistant IT Manager

The Assistant IT Manager will support the Director of IT in the daily operations of the IT department. This role involves overseeing the implementation of IT systems and policies, managing IT projects, providing technical support, and ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in managing and supporting the IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and security systems.

· Help oversee IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.

· Provide technical support to staff and manage the IT managed service provider (MSP) to ensure timely resolution of issues.

· Work with the Director of IT to develop and implement IT policies and procedures to improve efficiency and security.

· Monitor IT systems performance and provide reports on their status to the Director of IT.

· Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software, including vendor negotiation and relationship management.

· Keep abreast of new technology trends and recommend upgrades and improvements to the IT infrastructure.

· Ensure data backups are performed regularly and test disaster recovery procedures.

· Support the training of staff on new systems and technologies.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of IT.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

· Proven experience in an IT support role or similar, preferably within a managerial or supervisory capacity.

· Strong understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, and security principles.

· Experience managing IT projects and leading a technical support team.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

· Knowledge of current technology trends and a keen interest in following developments in IT.

· Certifications in ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar would be an advantage.
